  • Contribute to patient rehabilitation and successful reintegration into the community
  • Work closely with the interdisciplinary team of professionals to improve the lives of patients

Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) hires skilled nurses from all backgrounds and areas of expertise. With the current health challenges facing our offender population, there is a need to recruit more nurses into our organization.

Nurses at CSC play an important role in providing quality care to approximately 15,000 offenders incarcerated in Canada's federal institutions, they work in accredited facilities. In their daily work, nurses in CSC care for offenders by contributing to the prevention, care, treatment, and support of acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions. The care provided by nurses assists in maintaining the safety of Canadians by helping to improve offender health and reintegration into the community. CSC nurses provide a wide range of clinical services that can be found in a community setting, while focusing on services that reflect the needs of the offender population.

Intent of the process

📌 The selection process is intended to create an inventory of qualified candidates to support staffing needs across multiple regions and institutions. CSC will review applications received on a regular basis and contact applicants based on the needs of the institutions. It is therefore important that you indicate all the locations where you want to work.

Please note that not all locations currently have vacancies. Staffing needs will be reviewed periodically and will be updated in the above hiring section.

The candidate qualfied pool resulting from this inventory may be used to staff positions on a permanent/indeterminate (anticipatory), temporary/term (anticipatory), or casual basis. Casual work is offered for a fixed duration not exceeding 90 working days in a calendar year.
